The 4th of July festivities have finally come to a close. Now it is time to pack in the food and clear out the yard. Here are a few pointers to help you effectively and efficiently clean up the holiday clutter.
Before you throw away any used fireworks make sure they are completely extinguished. To avoid starting any accidental fires, it might be a good idea to have a bucket of water on hand when lighting off fireworks. Keep a bucket of water close by when lighting off fireworks and after they have been used place them immediately into the water to extinguish.
When throwing away picnic trash try taking the “green” approach. Separate and recycle any empty glass bottles and aluminum cans. Recycling glass conserves energy and lowers industrial pollution. A benefit to recycling aluminum is that there is no limit to the amount of times aluminum can be recycled, ultimately saving energy costs. If recycled in large quantities, recycling both glass and aluminum can even gain you a small profit.
With the hot weather it is important to refrigerator leftover food as soon as possible. The high temperatures can cause bacteria to grow quickly. Any food left out longer than 2 hours should be throw away. Separately store poultry from any other meats. Put large amounts of leftovers into smaller containers to allow for a faster cooling time when placed into the refrigerator. For hot foods, place them directly into the refrigerator to allow for an immediate cooling time.
If you plan on keeping your dog outside during the holiday pay attention to the weather. Make sure there are cool places for your pets to go and that they have plenty of water. Rid your yard of toxic and hazardous materials. Check for any remnants of fireworks to prevent your pets from choking. Secure trash and remove all gardening products from your yard, for they can be toxic to pets.
All of us here at COVERT Cleaning hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th.
